Rebar Detailing is the production of shop drawings required for the ironworker calling out quantity, description, placement, bending shapes with dimensions and laps of the reinforcing steel.

Various applications are used to produce bar bending schedules which can be directly fed into CNC machines that cuts and bends the rebar to the desired shapes.  Fabrications of the bars are scheduled and the placing/fixing sequence indicated, adding the elements required to support those bars during construction.  ‘Shop/Placing Drawings’ are submitted to the A/E for review of compliance with design drawings before construction can proceed.

Rebar detailing is a very critical in order to ensure the right structures with the right strength are built based on the construction documents.  This calls for high level accuracy in the detailing drawings as building stability and integrity depends on this. Any quality issues can lead to not only cost overruns but in worst cases stability/worthiness of the structure built.

Rebar details are on ASA Cad/Detailing software only and submitted to customer via email in PDF format. At customer’s request, drawings can also be submitted in DWG and DGN format. Bar listing upon customer’s request usually after approval of drawings and emailed in ASA’s Ex format. For customers not on ASA, DOS version of the bar list will be provided.

Every country has developed specific codes and standards to be followed for fabricating and erecting the steel structures.  Capstone detailing strictly follows the relevant country codes and standards for every individual project.

Our services include rebar detailing and estimating. The detailing is done either with Micro Station/ ASA for 2D, RebarCAD and with Tekla Structures for 3D.  The deliverables for the rebar detailing are as follows:

  • Rebar Shop Drawings
  • Field Placement/Shop Drawings
  • Bar Bending Schedules
  • 2D and 3D Modelling of Rebar
  • Connection Sketches
  • Bar Listing in ASA Format
  • DGN Files Available to Customer
  • Complete Rebar Estimating
  • Masonry Detailing
  • Retaining Walls Detailing
  • Foundation Detailing
  • Footings Detailing
  • Grade Beam Detailing
  • Quantity take-offs
